Corvidair

Star Simpson is founder of Corvidair, building heavy-lift drone systems. Her previous work includes building and launching the APSARA, a biodegradable single-use cargo delivery glider for DARPA. She also worked on the Tethertenna, an autonomous helicopter that loiters at the end of a long tether cable that supplies power, which remains airborne indefinitely and is intended to serve as a radio communications platform. Tethertenna was launched at Facebook’s F8 developer conference in 2017. In addition, some early high-impact work by Star include the first public drone cargo project “TacoCopter” which made headlines globally and was featured on US TV show The Colbert Report twice in 2012. She studied electrical engineering at MIT and is a an FAA-licensed glider pilot and commercial drone operator. Corvidair participated in the startup incubator YCombinator in the Summer 2017 cohort.
