Samson Radeny

Samson Radeny is an international development professional with over 25 years of experience leading innovative and inclusive health and social development programs in Africa. He is the chief of party for the USAID-funded Rwanda Service Delivery Activity that seeks to improve access to quality maternal, newborn, and child health and malaria prevention and treatment services in Rwanda with the ultimate goal to reduce the incidence of maternal, newborn, and child morbidity and mortality. Radeny has honed an exceptional balance of technical, leadership and managerial skills over the course of his career, overseeing several multi-sectoral programs in more than ten African nations. Radeny is highly skilled in designing and executing programs to catalyze change in host communities, positioning governments and local organizations to lead and sustain results.

Prior to joining IntraHealth, Radeny served as chief of party for the USAID-funded Rwanda Improved Services for Vulnerable Populations (ISVP) program, which focused on increasing equitable access to health and social services, including nutrition, family planning, maternal health, adolescent/youth sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and malaria prevention and treatment, tailoring interventions to the needs of individual communities, and incorporating behavior change approaches. He has previously served in senior leadership positions in other international organizations, such as PATH, Medical Assistance Program (MAP) International, Johns Hopkins University-Center for Communication Programs (JHU-CCP), Save the Children International, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Pact Inc., and Global Communities. At the early stages of his career, Radeny  worked as a lecturer of sociology at the University of Nairobi and part-time lecturer at Daystar and St. Paul’s universities. His passion for health and social change has enabled him to engage with host governments, donors, private sector ,and local communities to bring about a renewed sense of hope and human dignity for vulnerable people.

Radeny earned his master’s degree and doctorate in sociology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
