An IntraHealth International Production
Paul is a medical informatics researcher and pediatrician interested in informatics interventions in resource-constrained environments, decision support systems, and controlled medical vocabularies. He is co-founder and leader of OpenMRS, an open source medical record system platform that’s currently deployed in over 40 countries. Through these projects, Paul studies each unique environment to learn how effective various health informatics interventions are there. He also participates in international architectural development efforts, both by leading a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre in Medical Informatics, and by forming a new adaptive technical assistance community that supports national planning and implementation of health information sharing architectures (OpenHIE).
