Anu Kumar

Anu Kumar, PhD, MPH, is president and CEO of Ipas, an international reproductive health and rights organization that focuses on access to safe abortion and contraception. She provides strategic leadership for more than 500 staff in more than 20 countries—all guided by Ipas’s commitment to working for a world where every woman and girl can determine her own future. Kumar is a thought leader for the organization and in the field on topics such as abortion stigma, gender equity, and sexual and reproductive health and human rights. Her commitment to human rights, social justice, and gender equity extends beyond Ipas to her board experiences with organizations like the Society for Family Planning, the Center for Women and Policy Studies, Lillian’s List of North Carolina, and Intrahealth International. Her training in anthropology and global public health continue to inform and influence her work every day.
