Jorge Odón

Car Mechanic

Jorge is a car mechanic from Argentina and the creator of the Odón Device, a life-saving invention that aids in obstructed labor by helping to ease the way for a baby stuck in the birth canal. The low-cost Odón Device is endorsed by the World Health Organization and could be transformative for rural health posts, which often lack the facilities and staff to perform C-sections. Jorge did not complete his secondary education, but he is now president and owner of the Rayel SA Auto Shop. He has been a member of Rotary International since 1990 and is a senior partner of technological developments. He was also a finalist in the First World Forum of Medical Innovations in Thailand in 2010, winner of the first prize in product innovation and of the grand prize at INNOVATE 2011, and winner of the gold medal for Best Inventor Argentina in 2011.
