Seamus Kenney

Pop Up Chorus

Seamus teaches chorus at Smith Middle School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he is director of Community Chorus Project’s high school program. He is also a conductor and cofounder of the PopUp Chorus, another Community Chorus Project undertaking. A graduate of the prestigious Eastman School of Music where he studied voice and composition, Seamus has a unique knowledge and understanding of the value of both classical and pop music. Upon graduation he set out to seek fame and fortune in Hollywood, California, with his quirky rock band, SNMNMNM. In 2004, he relocated to North Carolina, where his work as an arranger has led to collaborations with high-profile local songwriters including Chris Stamey (Let’s Active, DB’s), Ari Picker (Lost in the Trees), Gordon Zacharias (Fan Modine), and Mac McCaughan (Superchunk, Portastatic). Seamus is now working on an original sci-fi opera titled “All Hail the Comet.”
